Running is Easy, Enjoy Running

After recovering from the elbow fracture and dislocation, I was back to running to get rid of the fear when I see people running. When I used to walk or sit in my apartment balcony and relax, when I see people running not looking down, I had the fear they might fall. This is after the freak accident that broke my elbow followed by a major surgery. If you have missed my earlier Blog about this here is the link - Run to Stay Healthy
I started running seven kilometers during the weekend around a month back. I felt so good when I did this after the long break and I was so determined to run the usual ten kilometers. Last few weeks I run more than ten kilometers and I feel so good physically and mentally. I plan to go to Agara Lake tomorrow and day after to run more than ten kilometers. Agara Lake is a beautiful place for running or biking at Bangalore. Thankfully I stay very close to this Lake. Am not a great runner but I can run more than ten kilometers at decent pace. I thought I will wri…

My Travel to Europe Part 2

My next visit to Europe was around 4 years back. My Customer had their offices in most of Europe and I was lucky enough to travel to these places work, meet some very nice people and visit some most Beautiful places on Earth. I traveled to Milan via Stockholm during the weekend. I was able to visit few places in Stockholm before boarding the flight to Milan. Am a big Ferrari fan I was so excited to be in Milan. When we were at Milan we also visited Switzerland and Venice.
Stay - At Milan the stay was in a one BHK service apartment. Right outside the service apartment is the Metro station. This means commuting to office was very easy and commuting to Grocery shop or anywhere at Milan is just few steps from our room. The front office helped me give directions to a nearby park for my morning running. The park is large, completely green and there was a running track. I can see almost everyone run in Milan. I used to run even before my Milan days. What helped me in Milan is to run better, k…

My Travel to Coorg

I traveled to Coorg around 5 years back, a very memorable trip. This was a personal one and with my best friend and also my best enemy. We reached Mysore by train, had a nice Masala Dosai in one of the restaurants at Mysore and took a cab to Coorg. I dont think I have traveled by train after this trip, driving or flight is more comfortable. Driving in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu is a pleasure when we have 3 days weekend and I love driving.
Stay - Stay was at Heritage Resort in Coorg. They have a nice green facility and what I liked in Heritage is their service. What I liked even better is covered in the next section. They arranged sight seeing as a part of package. The package also included visit to coffee estate and authentic Coorg lunch in the estate one of the days. We didn't pay much at Heritage for the four days stay, but in some of the other trips we have paid a huge premium. Once, I cover all places that I traveled I will write about the cost of travel in India and overs…

My Travel to Canada

I traveled to Canada around 4 years back on a business visit. I had the weekends to go around Canada. My base was Montreal and Monday to Friday was only work. When I think about Canada it reminds me of the uncomfortable weather. I remember getting down from the cab and doing a quick run everyday to get inside office, thanks to the uncomfortable wind that makes the weather even more uncomfortable.
Stay - Our Base was Montreal and we were staying at Crown Plaza. This is a Business class Hotel, Holiday Inn was next door and we were given special permission to use the facilities of Holiday Inn. This made our stay very comfortable.

Food - Even before we took our flight to Montreal we went through the list of Indian restaurants here. On the very first day we went to Thanjai Restaurant, we liked the Menu and the people here so much that during the weekdays they will deliver dinner at hotel and during the weekends we went to Thanjai Restaurant for lunch. We also tried few other Restaurants, Tha…

My Travel to Europe Part 1

My first visit to Europe happened around 7 years back. I traveled for work to a place near Leeds. I was lucky to go around Manchester and London few times. I was luckier to travel to these places multiple times.
Stay - We were a group of us who traveled to a place near Leeds. We were staying at Hilton. The Hilton at this place is not a great one compared to other Hilton's but definitely a great choice in the place where we were staying.

Food - Am a vegetarian and in my first visit to Leeds I found it extremely difficult to find a nice vegetarian restaurant. When I traveled to London during weekend I went to some few good restaurants, Woodlands at Piccadilly was  the Best. During my second visit we used to order food from outside and it was a feast everyday at the Hotel. What I learnt from my first few visits to Europe is to stay in a Hotel or Service Apartment which has a kitchen.

Places I Visited - Some of the memorable places I visited in London and Manchester are:
1. Manchester U…

Celebrate Mother's Day

Mother's Day is Celebrated on the Second Sunday of May in India and many Countries. According to me Mother's Day is the day that must be celebrated on all days. This is the day that must be celebrated more than Diwali in India. I wish at least on this day Mother's ask their Children what they want apart from their Children's success and their Husband's and Children's good health.

I don't want to disclose my age but I have crossed 40. Four months back I met with a freak accident while I was running and had a nasty fracture to my left elbow. I underwent major surgery in Chennai and during the recovery my Mom made me grow younger by 40 years. I was getting the same attention that my Niece gets at home. She used to wake up at around 5am and go to bed at around 10pm. She had absolutely no rest and she was by me always taking care of me. I could see the love she has for me even today. I have seen the same love from her to others in family. When I met with the acci…

Bye Bye Apple

I always thought Apple products are meant for privileged few until I started using the same. The first Apple product I bought was an Ipod around ten years back. I remember going home, copying all my favorite tracks and the first number I listened to was "Money for Nothing". This Ipod was my companion wherever I went and listening to my favorite tracks was the best thing those days. Today, the same Ipod is lying in one shelf, not charged and not used. Thanks to the various Music Apps, these Gadgets have gone to Shelves. I have already covered about how YouTube Music is slowly making us delete songs even from our Itunes. Here is the Blog I wrote on YouTube Music:

Around six years back, I bought an Ipad 2. This was my companion wherever I traveled. I have maintained this Ipad so well that even today it will look like a new one. Nowadays, I hardly use this Ipad because it is dead slow. I have done the followin…

Learning from my Niece

I always wanted to bring my Niece home and stay with her a few days. I know she can't stay away from her Parents and she can do that only when her Grandmother is around. She is now growing fast and finally she is here with us during her vacation. Its going to be 2 days of fun for both of us. She is only 6 years and 6 months and she is already a teacher to me. I just couldn't believe how at 6.5 years she knows so many things. Let me share few of my experiences and also learning from My Little Princess.

1. Around 4 months back we both were at Chennai and I took her to Marina Beach. She wanted to go few meters inside the sea and I took her since the waves were low and steady. We and few others didn't realize a high tide that was approaching us and we were only standing and watching when the high tide went behind us. Luckily it was not very high but it was bad enough to make my little one's dress wet and bring tears in her eyes. I cannot see her cry and I was very upset. …

Roger Federer, The Pefect Gentleman

I started watching Tennis around 4 decades back. I remember watching matches played by Bjorn Borg, John Mcenroe, Chris Evert, Martina Navaratilova and few others. The one Grand Slam I always remember is Wimbledon. I don't remember anything about French and US Open until we had the next generation. When Pete Sampras made his entry into Tennis I became a big fan of him. I thought he was the complete player and on his best day he cant be beaten. When Sampras was about to retire we saw another great player coming to limelight, he was none other than Roger Federer.

As on date Roger Federer has won 6 Australian Open titles, 1 French Open title, 8 Wimbledon titles and 5 US Open titles. He is the only player after Connors to win more than 100 Career Singles. He was World Number One for a record 237 consecutive weeks and is currently World Number 4. These numbers only justify that for Federer Winning is like Sleeping for many of us. There is no day without sleep for us and there is no day…

Change the Curriculum

I completed school more than 30 years back and I never understood the importance or relevance of some of the subjects that we studied:
1. What is the purpose of including Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry as part of curriculum to a Commerce Student. What is the relevance of these chapters even for a Science Student who is planing to be a Doctor or a Software Engineer. Have they applied these subjects anywhere in their Career?
2. What is the purpose of including Physics as a subject to an aspiring Accountant. Similarly an aspiring Doctor need not have Physics as a subject.
3. Finally, the purpose of attempting to study Chemical Reactions and Bonding covered in Chemistry for someone who is never interested in Science.
I still don't understand why students choosing Commerce Group or even Biology Group study these subjects or Chapters.

I always felt we should study what is important to our life and the subjects that we have interest in. I ended up doing CA after my College and the is…

Am in Love with YouTube Music

I always love Music and Music is always my permanent companion. There are numbers like Money for Nothing, Another Brick in the Wall that I must listen at least once a week. My Mother Tongue is Tamil and I grew up listening to Ilayaraja numbers and I still keep listening to some of these numbers when I drive to work or when I travel from Bangalore to Chennai. I follow multiple Sports, I watch movies on Netflix, these days started watching more of Travelxp, above all these listening to my favorite numbers always come first.

I grew up listening to Music in Tape Recorders. It used to be fun buying a Movie Songs Cassette or going to a Music Recording shop with a TDK 90 or TDK 60 to record our favorite tracks. I still remember going to Cisons Complex at Chennai to give my TDK 90 to record Michael Jackson's Bad Album on the day of release. When we entered college we had the luxury of listening in Walkman. Saving Battery is very important in these Walkman and hence, Reynolds pen was used…

Who Watches IPL

I started following Cricket listening to Radio Commentary. I remember we had a Transistor that picked Short Wave. I still remember listening to commentary of 1979 India vs England played at Oval when Gavaskar scored 221 in the 4th innings. We started having Television around 1982 during the Asian Games hosted in India. We did not have a Color Television at home in 1983 and I remember watching the final in one of my friends place at Ashok Nagar, Chennai. We had only one Channel those days, maybe the additional Metro channel for shorter duration in a day. We were all watching the match and there was a News Break when my favorite Cricketer Sir Vivian Richards was doing what he does normally, having a free hit with his bat. The News was over and we immediately watched Kapildev taking the catch of Richards and this was followed by India winning the World Cup. This is the Best Moment for India in Cricket according to me. Then, we all had Color Television and it was 1985 Benson and Hedges. …
